Get Motivated To Be Your Own Boss

GET BACK TO LIFE! UNLEASH YOUR INNER ENTREPRENEUR AND GET MOTIVATED TO BE YOUR OWN BOSS.

I’m not going to lie, getting the Posh Pro Project off the ground has been challenging. As expected though, for sure! We have made mistakes in the way we were approaching the production side coinciding with the marketing side. But after a few months of our trial and errors, we think we have figured it out! We just completed our 5th course this week and both mine and Megan’s marketing forces will begin…. now. By helping you get motivated to be your own boss.

We are excited to say the least. However, for me personally, I have struggled with motivation. I mean, being successful and making money on my own terms (and with my best friend who I admire and love working alongside) should be motivating right? But really moving from a mediocre productive state to one resembling when I was 30 is something very different. I was a workhorse for 20+ years! This should be like riding a bike.

“Believe in Yourself.”

But working from home for the first time in a LONG time, coupled with gaining a few pounds, parenting my own child with my ex, managing the delicate relationship with my current partner’s child all while rounding towards 50 ALL amidst this pandemic….well I spent a lot of time staring at my computer from under the covers. I spent full days in bed. I worked but it all felt wrong and half-assed. It was obvious that it was easier saying “get motivated to be your own boss” than getting it done. Here is some more reading about motivation and how it works!

I realized that this lackadaisical approach I had going on was a huge over-correction from my former corporate lifestyle. I was obviously taking the work from home idea a little too far. I was hurting myself personally and my productivity for my business wasn’t exactly killing it from my bed perch. I knew something had to change. And that change could only come from one place, ME. I think a lot of the time people get in this rut and think, “well if I just had this thing or that thing I would do so much better” or “If this person would change the way they act towards me I would be happier” or “if he or she supported me the way I need, I could accomplish anything”.

But the reality is, nothing changes unless YOU do. You are the only “thing” you have control over. So, at the end of the day, you are the only one who can pull yourself out of bed and JUST DO IT. That is the key to get motivated to be your own boss. So, my first baby step was to get out of bed early in the morning, MAKE the bed and start my day.

“This is how change happens. One gesture. One person. One moment at a time.”

That very simple step increased my productivity by adding an hour, sure, but I was showered, dressed and ready for the day. I was amazed at how that simple act of normalcy jump started my energy. And guess what, getting up earlier meant I went to bed earlier. More sleep meant even more energy and a healthier attitude overall.

Next, I had to commit to doing something physical for my body for at least 10 minutes a day. I’m sure you’re thinking, 10 minutes is nothing, but 10 minutes is 10 minutes more than I was doing! And that 10 minutes becomes a HABIT. Then I added another 10. Now I’m up to 30 minutes per day. And realistically, it’s probably only 3-4 days a week. But that is Okay. Setting more realistic goals is also what’s going to start that domino effect of positivity. I can’t beat myself up if I don’t get to it one day. That sort of thinking makes you give up. I never again want to say to myself, “well I didn’t do it today or yesterday so what’s the point?” That will spiral easily to Gemma under the covers. Instead, if I miss a day, I reset the very next day. It’s better to hit your goal 1-2 times a week than not at all, and next week maybe you’ll hit that goal 3 times. KEEP GOING. Next, I needed some uplifting motivation. I even started listening to motivational speakers – specifically Tony Robbins or Mel Robbins 10 minutes each day in the car. WOW. Between Tony Robbins telling me to set my standards higher to Mel Robbins telling me to actually visualize AND feel what it’s like to be the success I want; I feel like I’m already starting to live the amazing LIFE I crave!

The bottom line: DO something. ANYTHING. Make a list and check things off. One thing that is different today than yesterday. And keep doing that one thing. And then that one thing and then that other ONE THING. Before you know it, you will have a few different POSITIVE habits that you thought could never be in your daily life and you’ll start feeling motivated. You should feel motivated and proud of yourself. I do. I should! These are big deals! We, all of us, have had a heck of a few years here. Work is important but it’s just a part of the life you lead. Getting back to it will have its ups and downs. That is all so natural. But baby-stepping your way back with small goals and small accomplishments is the only way to go. Otherwise, it’s all too overwhelming. Keep it simple but positive, and I promise you’ll accomplish more than you thought you could. Believe it. It’s all in your mindset. It’s all about YOU. So get motivated to be your own boss! But if you need any help, just contact us.
